Size 5-9 meters. Twisted trunk and evergreen. Its young leaves are reddish in color and form a dense canopyand low. The inflorescence is globose into chapters, with light colored flowers.

The species provides excellent shade, can be successfully used in afforestation of parks and large gardens,typically tropical plant.
