Size of 12 to 15 meters. Straight trunk and deciduous foliage. The leaves are large and change color from green to reddish-brown in autumn-winter. Flowers in the months of spring and the fruits have a tough nut and edible.

The species is suitable for planting in parks, along beaches, the magnificent shade it provides. It should not be pruned because it loses its typical form.
