Tropical tree with rounded crown. Has evergreen foliage with aromatic leaves. It flowers from July to August, with small flowers and no ornamental importance. The fruits are black and small, with single seed.

The new branches is extracted from the bark that has medicinal properties. The tree itself is very ornamental due to its architecture. It can be employed successfully in landscape design and urban forestry.
