Size ranges from 20 to 30 meters.
Trunk and branches with thorns. Displays deciduous foliage, with compound leaves and trifoliate leaflets glabrous and leathery. It blooms from July to August, with the plant usually stripped of foliage, with orange flowers and much visited by parakeets and parrots.
Rapid growth.
Species highly ornamental, especially when in bloom. Used in landscaping for medium to large areas and in parks and plazas. Fits well in moist soils and marshy.
